An event joining motorcycle, car, and truck enthusiasts in one place to raise money for an important cause, Dream Ride Day is scheduled for August 19. The Farmington Club in Farmington, Conn. is the event’s main location, and riders from eight states in the Northeast and New England are coming to Connecticut to participate. Trantolo & Trantolo is a presenting sponsor.
Celebrating the achievements of and directly funding Special Olympics Athletes, the Dream Ride begins with 9 a.m. registration, which includes a continental breakfast. The ride, a scenic 40-mile journey, starts at 11 a.m. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. is a party, with live music, food, and prizes, for the riders’ return and the arrival of the satellite locations.
Riding on August 17 and 18, riders from 26 different locations are traveling to Connecticut for Dream Ride Day. One of these locations is Papa’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in New Britain. While riders leave from the location on August 19, the day before is the Dream Cruise 2012 – another event for truck, car, and motorcycle enthusiasts. Dream Cruise 2012 is an opportunity for participants to show off their vehicles and to cruise into Dream Ride with a Special Olympics Athlete.
Dream Ride Day is located at 162 Town Farm Road in Farmington, and the first 1,000 who preregister for the event will receive an official event T-shirt and pin. Those who register online also have the chance to win a $200 gift card.
Dream Ride Day started in 2001 and last year, even with Hurricane Irene encumbering the event, raised $220,000. In total, since the start of these annual events, more than $1,385,000 has been raised for Special Olympics Athletes.
