After a successful series of events in 2012, the 3rd Ride for Andrew is scheduled for September 22. Trantolo & Trantolo is sponsoring the motorcycle fundraising event, and we encourage everyone to participate and contribute!
The 3rd Ride for Andrew assists Andrew Haraghey, a 17-year-old with cerebral palsy, train to become a top-tier ski racer. Haraghey aims to make the U.S. Paralympic Ski Team and ultimately to compete in Russia in 2014. Funds raised assist with his participation in training camps, equipment, and travel to competitions.
While Haraghey began skiing at 7 years old, he didn’t compete in a formal race until the 2009-’10 ski season. By December 2010, he had been awarded a scholarship to attend the National Race Festival at the Hartford Ski Spectacular in Breckenridge, Colo., where he trained under some of the U.S.’s best Adaptive Ski Race coaches and with members of the U.S. Adaptive Ski Team, as well as with other racers from the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
The 2012-’13 season brought summer training in Mount Hood, as well as races and training camps in Copper Mountain, Colo.; Kimberly, B.C.; Park City, Utah; Lake Placid, N.Y.; and Stowe, V.T.
Registration for the 3rd Ride for Andrew lasts from 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. at TSI Harley Davidson in Ellington, Conn. The ride – open to motorcycle riders and other vehicle drivers – goes through Connecticut to end up at the Sun Valley Resort in Stafford Springs, where there will be food, entertainment, and a raffle.
To participate, the cost is $25 per rider and $15 per passenger on the day of the event; there’s a $5 per person discount for early registration.
After participating in 2012, Trantolo & Trantolo’s team is proud to help organize the 2013 event. Find more details and register for the event at AndrewRaces.com.
