At Trantolo & Trantolo, we understand how frustrating the Social Security Disability process can be. The application requires very specific information and it is challenging to obtain the necessary medical records to support your claim. Our experienced SSD lawyers and paralegals have been advising clients on the process of applying for benefits for many years.
Trantolo & Trantolo has been a family personal injury law firm for over 80 years and our Social Security Disability practice area has received some of our best reviews from satisfied clients. If you’ve been denied benefits and choose us to take on your claim, we will get to know you personally and answer all of your questions. We can also represent you from the very beginning of the process, before you apply, and help with the application and appeals process. The resources below will help you get started.
To Apply Online: You can fill out an application online by visiting https://www.ssa.gov/disabilityssi/. You have the option to stop and save your application, so you don’t have to worry about losing your progress when you don’t know an answer. However, it is recommended that you have the necessary information gathered.
To Apply by Phone: When you apply over the phone, you have two options. First, you can file your application over the phone with a representative. Second, you can schedule an appointment to file your claim at your local Social Security Administration office. Applicants can call the SSA toll-free at 800-772-1213. For those hard of hearing, the TYY phone number is 800-325-0778.
To Apply in Person: You also have the option to apply at your local Social Security Administration office. Wait times can be long, so it is recommended that applicants schedule an appointment ahead of time. The office closest to you can be found using the online locator.
