Once upon a time, a police officer was riding back to his station after a 12-hour shift. It was close to 7pm, the end of a long and hot day. As he rode down a busy street on his motorcycle, he noticed another motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction, at a high rate of speed. The policeman made a U-turn, activated his lights and siren, and pulled the speeding motorcyclist over.
The cold winter months are finally behind us, as we begin to enjoy longer days and warmer nights. Trees and flowers are replacing ice and snow as a new season starts. Spring is a time for new beginnings.
Dear Santa, our holiday wish list is really important. We know how very busy you are, but please read carefully and even share some of our wishes with your elves.
I am a retired police officer. On a rainy fall day in 1999, I was almost killed when a large, oncoming box truck crossed into my lane and crashed into my police car head-on. This was no accident; this collision was the result of a driver’s decision to not pay attention.
April is often a time of cloudy days and rainy nights. Our colder days are slowly getting warmer, and day light is finally lasting longer. If we look closely, the flowers are slowly beginning to bud, as promises of May flowers begin. This is also the time for bicycle riding. We want bicyclists to be safe on the roads and make sure their kids and grandchildren are too.
